Hi Mathletes... or future Mathletes.  This is where you want to be to get information pertaining to all of the math competitions that occur throughout the year.  The two types of contests below have a brief description and the target grade level for that particular contest is indicated.  Note that you may participate in competitions for grade levels above your current grade if you want. This may seem daunting, but is a good experience and there is absolutely nothing to lose.

COMC: The Sun Life Financial Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge usually occurs in early November and is open to any student with an interest in mathematics.  Approximately the top 50 students from the COMC will be invited to write the Sun Life Financial Canadian Mathematical Olympiad (CMO). Students who excel in the CMO will have the opportunity to be selected as part of Math Team Canada -- a team of six students who travel to compete in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). Depending on grade level and performance, students participating in the COMC can also have opportunities to garner awards, to win prizes, to be considered for scholarships, and to get invited to camps.

The University of Waterloo hosts a number of different competitions over the course of the year.  Some are grade (age) specific while others state eligibility as an age range.  In either case, competitors are always eligible and encouraged to compete with older students.  Dates for all the Waterloo based competitions can be found by clicking the link below and practice exams can be found by clicking the buttons below the individual competitions.  Waterloo also sponsors computing (programming) competitions.  For those who are interested, please see me when you get a minute - lunch hours are best.
